Payment Options
Water bills are mailed on the first of each month, and payment is due on the 20th. If the 20th falls on a holiday or weekend, then the due date is the first business day following. A 10% late fee is applied to all balances not paid by the due date.
The Village of Ashmore offers a variety of convenient payment options for our residents. Simply choose the option that best suits your needs.
Automatic Bank Draft
The worry-free way to pay your bill. With this service, the amount of your monthly bill is automatically deducted from your bank account and credited to your utility account. There is no set-up fee or charge associated with this method of payment. To set up Automated Bank Draft, simply download and fill out the ACH Origination Agreement Form located below and drop it off, mail it, or email it to our office.
Online Payment with a Card
If paying your bill online through our website, just click the green "Pay Your Bill Now" button and follow the prompts. You will need the full account number (including the leading zero's) as well as the first name of the account holder as it appears on the water bill.
Once you identify the account, click "CREATE AN ACCOUNT" on the top right to create a login. This will allow you to:
- Receive email notifications when there is a balance on your water account,
- View/pay the bill without needing to remember the account number,
- Save your card information for paying future bills,
- Sign up for Auto-Pay using a card*,
- *NOTE: There is a small processing fee for all credit/debit card payments, including the monthly Auto-Pay.
There is no fee, however, to sign up for (or use) Auto-Pay using a bank routing & account number. If you'd like to sign up for Auto-Pay using a bank account, please complete the "ACH Origination Agreement" form and submit it to the Municipal Office. The form can be found at the bottom of this page. - See your payment history (only payments made in the portal will be visible; payments made in-person or by mail will not appear in the portal.)
- Link multiple water services to your water portal (for people who pay multiple water bills in Ashmore or who own rental properties)
The online portal and card processing is powered by PAYSTAR. The processing fees are as follows:
- $1.95 fee for payments of $0.01 - $50
- $2.75 fee for payments of $50.01 - $100
- 2.75% fee for payments over $100
Payment By Phone
Card payments can be made 24-hours a day using this automated system powered by Paystar. Dial (217) 335-4436 and follow the prompts.
Payment By Mail
If paying by check or money order through the mail, please send all payments with your payment coupon. To avoid late fees, please mail your payment at least five-seven business days before the due date specified on your bill.
Payment Drop-off Location
You may pay your bill in person at our office address. We accept cash, check, credit/debit card, or money orders.
There is a Night Drop on the east side of the building as well. This option is for check or money order payments only please; this is not for cash or card payments.
Payment Through Your Financial Institution Online Bill Pay
Many financial institutions such as major banks offer their customers the ability to pay their bills via an online bill payment service (through your bank's website). Normally, these services debit the customer's checking or savings account to pay the bill. Depending on the financial institution, they may or may not charge a fee for the service. Payments may take up to seven business days to post to the customer's account. Please consult with your bank for more information.
